T O P I C R E V I E WRobert PearlmanAB Emblem is producing a 4-inch patch for the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary. This is not an official NASA design. It is not yet available. vanerieIs this a 100% embroidered patch or a hybrid of printed and embroidered? As an old school patch collector, I would like to see AB Emblem return to fully embroidered patches.LiemboNot sure but I to me it looks 100% blasé. For such a momentous occasion the design is a bit of a let down. spacemanAB Emblem announced it was offered to traders in error and has been withdrawn. It is an exclusive for the Johnson Space Center.waa49According to the German shop Andromeda24, there are two versions of this patch: with the words "50 Years Moon Landing" (exclusive for the Johnson Space Center)with the words "The First Lunar Landing 1969-2019" (for the general public).waa49According to the German shop Andromeda24, for licensing reasons, the patch has yet to be revised and A-B Emblem is working on a new design.I'm sorry, the first information from the manufacturer was different.Robert PearlmanThis patch ("The First Lunar Landing, 1969-2019") is now for sale (as seen at Space Center Houston's Space Trader gift shop). The AB Emblem design code is 297086 (with date code 07/1840).waa49AB-Emblem information: The patch is not available. This was a custom patch that we made for a customer, we will not be reselling it. It is only available to buy from the JSC Space Traders store;297086 A-B Emblem Made In China 01/1940 (confirmed, got)LiemboI am surprised they went through the effort of making a very accurate rendition of the classic Apollo 11 souvenir version but decided to scale it to 3.5". I suppose it's 25% less material involved...Kevin T. RandallThat 3.5" Apollo 11 50th anniversary patch has just been released as a 6" version with SKU patch design number 407607 A-B Emblem 03/19 20, and is available from the AB Emblem website for $10. That's nearly double the size for just another $2 on the $8 for the 3.5" version. This 6" patch is attached with a staple to a 6"x 8" white rectangular "Space Emblems" sales card.LiemboThey stated on Facebook that the 6" version was a limited edition release, when I asked about the number produced. We don't share exact number of patches to be made on a limited run — before they have been made available for sale. This 6-inch version is planned at two runs only. They will go on sale this weekend to our space distributors.denali414This Saturday in Raleigh, North Carolina at the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 celebration at the History Museum, AB Emblem is going to have a booth there. Not sure if just informational or having anything to sell at the celebration. If anyone is interested in if they do a special patch, let me know and I'll pick some up when there.denali414Well they did not have any special patches at their booth.Kevin T. RandallMany thanks for looking for us.denali414Kevin they had those three patches selling for $10 and $12 at their booth. Did not realize they had sold out on the website or would have picked some up. They had a small machine at booth making these patches. I'd guess maybe will have back at store soon.Kevin T. RandallThat sounds like a first, the "sample machine" they had out on site away from Weaverville. If they were producing patches from it, they should of had embedded labels with 07/19 55 date codes on them.If I had known that I would of asked you to pick up two of each patch available.Though they may well of taken their entire left over stocks of Apollo anniversary patches with them to sell at the booth, and just made a few there. Looking at the photo the sample machine is not in operation, but it is connected to an electrical supply. The blue cable/flex is visible running across the path at the lower left side.denali414Sorry, I asked them if anything "special" at booth and they told me no. I'm still learning all the "ins and outs" for collecting. Know for future to ask about labels for patches now.Robert PearlmanAB Emblem is now offering an embroidered Lunar Landing 50th Anniversary Christmas Ornament.Kevin T. RandallAn example of the 6" version of the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 has been found by a cS member with the wrong embedded label on it. The label is for the Robonaut 2 patch, which has SKU patch design number 173504. Also that label has a date code error too (March 2007 USA). Both patches were manufactured at Weaverville, North Carolina this year, 2020.So far four production runs have been made of this 6" version of the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 patch. They are;407607 A-B Emblem 03/19 20 (USA)407607 A-B Emblem Made In China 08/19 40407607 A-B Emblem Made In China 09/19 40173504 . A-B Emblem 03/0720 (USA) should possibly read 03/2020 In a packet of ten 50th anniversary patches, seven had 08/19 40, two had 09/19 40 and one had the wrong label with 03/0720.The date code on the Robonaut 2 patch should read 02/20 20
